An Online posting page for Guardians who need to find homes for their parrots
The Association for Parrot C.A.R.E.
The mission of The Associaton for Parrot C.A.R.E. is spelled within its name: Conservation of parrots in their wild, natural habitats and the preservation of those habitats. Adoptions of parrots needing rehoming or into permananet sanctaury. Rescue of parrots who can no longer live in their current situation. Education of the public, animal lovers, and parrot caregivers on the appropriate care of parrots and the need to adopt rather than breed.
THE PARROTS The TV series “Baretta,” and its extremely likeable cockatoo character Fred, caused an exponential increase in the sale of these birds. Indeed, parrots have fast become the third most popular companion animal. Consequently, given their longevity and exotic nature, they are also becoming the most relinquished animals to animal shelters and pet rescues or are carelessly “set free.”
Most people had no idea what the commitment was going to be when acquiring a parrot – who ends up living 50 years or more. Captured or captive bred, people learn that parrots ultimately do not make suitable household companions for their entire long lives. Typically, by sexual maturity (the birds,’ that is) the human family is desperate to get rid of the bird.
