A 501 (c)3 tax-exempt nonprofit charitable organization
True to our name, the Association for Parrot C.A.R.E. is dedicated to Conservation, Adoption, Rescue, Education:
Wild parrot populations, their habitat and ecosystems, need to be protected. We help the public become aware of the problems associated with trapping, transport, and quarantine through fact sheets and lectures. We also support the conservation efforts of various organizations such as Parrots International and the World Parrot Trust.
We reduce the number of planned surrenders by working with parrot guardians to create a home environment that is happy and healthy for both humans and parrots and trouble-shooting existing problems within households. In the event that a surrender is inevitable, we adopt parrots into our sanctuary guaranteeing them a home for life or look to those special people who can provide a good adoptive home.
Whether in a home or on the market, birds often are kept in deplorable conditions. We rescue parrots in need of homes that would otherwise have nowhere to go or would continue to be kept in a poor environment. Sometimes improving a parrot’s living conditions is as easy as helping bird guardians construct back yard aviaries to provide larger living spaces and full flight.
Education is the best way to prevent the surrender of a bird and the need for a future adoption. Most people are unaware of the needs of parrots and the difficulties involved in keeping them. We provide consultations and fact sheets to improve the quality of life of family members and their companion parrot(s).
